T.I. released his sixth album Paper Trail on September 30, 2008. The title of the album refers to the lyrics he had written down on paper. Like many other rappers, T.I. abandoned this style of rapping after his debut album I'm Serious by just memorizing lyrics. The first promo single off of the album, "No Matter What," was released on April 29, 2008. The music video was released on June 27 on MTV's FN Premieres. The second promo single was "Swing Ya Rag" which was produced by and featured Swizz Beatz. The first main single off the album "Whatever You Like," was released on July 29, and became his most successful single of his career so far, breaking the record for the highest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, jumping from #71 to #1. It is T.I.'s first solo number one on the chart. The subsequent single "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna, T.I. broke his own record on the Billboard Hot 100 when it jumped from #80 to the #1 spot.

Identified is the second studio album by Vanessa Hudgens. The album was released via Hollywood Records July 1, 2008 in the U.S. and June 24, 2008 in Japan. "Identified" received generally positive reviews from music critics. The New York Times gave the album a positive review, praising the song "Gone with the Wind" as Hudgens best vocal performance.“Identified, her second CD, stints on her HSM character's sweetness in favor of dance beats and sensual lyrics.

"Catfights and Spotlights" is the Sugababes' forthcoming studio album scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2008. The album's lead single, "Girls", was released on 6 October 2008, described it as "literally quite brilliant" and complimented how it has been inspired by the popularity of soul music in 2007 and 2008, yet still remains original and unique.
The second single "No Can Do" was reported on Popjustice and gave it a less favourable review then their previous single stating - out Christmas week perhaps (ie probably not) with a remix featuring sleigh bells.

Perfect Symmetry is the third studio album by English piano rock band Keane, released on October 13, 2008 in the United Kingdom. The band had completely transformed their look and their new album was said to be also very unexpected. According to international Island Records manager, Jon Turner, the general international feel is of excitement and "Spiralling" is a favourite track of the US company. It was also revealed that the first full single release from the album will be "The Lovers Are Losing", which will be released on October 20, 2008. On October 6 the entire album was made available to stream, along with commentary from the band.
